Biedermeier (bieder: simple, modest; Meier: the most common German surname) was a transitional art style primarily in Central Europe, mainly between 1815 and 1848. A bourgeois style developed in parallel with the slow death of classicism and the empire, which flourished in Hungary under the name "tablabíro" style.
